We are able to offer uniquely flexible scheduling options to ensure that your healthcare needs are efficiently fulfilled in a comfortable, welcoming environment.
ANNUAL EXAM
Although it may be tempting to put off your annual gynecological exam when you feel strong and healthy, it is unwise to do so because these assessments are vital tools to prevent and/or detect potential health issues, and to curb any problems before they become a threat to your well-being.
Preventive care exams provide an opportunity to screen for cancer and other problems that may otherwise be undetectable, and can include some or all of the following elements (depending on age, risk factors and health issues):
- Consultation with your clinician about any health concerns or questions
- Pelvic examination
- Pap smear
- Clinical breast exam (CBE)
- Cholesterol test
- Colonoscopy
- Blood pressure
- Screening for cancer
- Screening for thyroid disease
- Bone density screening
- Mammogram
- Cardiac screening
- Basic skin cancer screening
BREAST CANCER SCREENING
During your annual exam, your OBGYN on the Park treatment provider will discuss your breast cancer screening options, taking into consideration your age and breast cancer risk factors. Breast cancer screening tests typically include:
Mammogram: regarded as the best screening tool for breast cancer, mammograms utilize x-rays to create an image of the breast, and are able to detect breast cancer in the earliest stages, when the survival rates are highest
Clinical Breast Exam (CBE): performed during the course of a routine medical exam, and involves the examination of the breasts and underarms in order to discern the presence of any lumps or changes
Mammography performed in conjunction with a CBE has been shown to be more effective than a mammogram alone as a means of detecting breast cancer in women over 40.
