Family Planning

FAMILY PLANNING

Caring for your reproductive health can sometimes feel like an overwhelming task, as you wrestle with life-changing decisions about if and when you would like to start a family. This challenge is compounded when you are inundated with confusing medical jargon surrounding the topics of infertility and your reproductive options. At OBGYN on the Park, our skillful team of board certified Obstetricians/ Gynecologists understand the magnitude of family planning decisions, and will take the time to make sure you have a clear understanding about your reproductive choices as they collaborate with you to fulfill your family planning goals safely and discreetly.

From the comfort of either of our conveniently located offices (Brooklyn and Manhattan, NY), you will be surrounded by a skillful team of physicians, nurses and support staff who are committed to providing you with exceptional care, and who are readily available to you whenever you require their services, or simply have any questions or concerns.

INFERTILITY

According to the National Institute of Health, approximately 15% of couples are infertile, or unable to become pregnant after at least one year of trying to conceive through unprotected sex. The term infertile also applies to women who are able to conceive, but suffer from miscarriages or stillbirths. There are a number of causes that can contribute to female infertility, including, but not limited to:  diabetes, autoimmune disorders, poor nutrition, excessive alcohol consumption, older age, obesity, smoking, ovarian cysts, hormonal imbalance, and pelvic inflammatory disease. If you are having difficulty conceiving and are concerned about infertility, your OBGYN on the Park treatment provider can perform a baseline infertility workup, and may suggest having a hysteroscopy as a diagnostic test to determine if the root cause of the infertility is a blockage of the fallopian tubes, a uterine abnormality, or scar tissue buildup in the uterus. Should additional testing be required, your clinician can refer you to a well-respected infertility specialist to continue the diagnostic and treatment process.

REPRODUCTIVE OPTIONS

The administration of high quality services in the field of reproductive health care requires compassion, discretion, and sensitivity. At OBGYN on the Park, our primary concerns are the health of our patients, and the respect for their privacy and choices in such delicate matters. We offer treatment for fetal death or miscarriage, and our physicians are trained to perform procedures in both the first and second trimester. We strive to educate our patients about the full scope of their reproductive options, and to create a soothing and tranquil environment to serve as the backdrop for any procedures they elect to undergo.

STERILIZATION

For patients who have determined that their family is complete, OBGYN on the Park offers a number of cutting edge sterilization methods to choose from, including:

  • Laparoscopic tubal ligation: this minimally invasive procedure is performed under general anesthesia and requires only small incisions in the abdomen. Tubal ligation permanently prevents pregnancy by cutting or blocking the fallopian tubes, and does not impact a woman’s menstrual cycle or trigger the commencement of menopause.
